In order to continue its work, the Society depends upon the support of its individual and institutional Members. Anyone who is interested in history, in general, and in that of the North West, in particular, and wishes to help in the furthering of local historical studies, is urged to join.
Membership is open to all on payment of an annual subscription.

The Chetham Society is now included on HMRC’s list of approved bodies (List 3).
This means that UK-based members of the Society can make a personal claim for tax relief on annual subscriptions paid to the Society as an approved professional body, if they are employed in relevant professional areas, such as some lecturing, archives, teaching and libraries roles in the UK. The process can be followed on the Government website.
